St. John's School of Radiologic Technology
Your Future
The field of radiologic technology is a rapidly expanding and rewarding
career choice. The continued diversity of imaging and therapeutic
technologies offers a bright future for the registered Radiologic Technologist.
Radiographers may remain
in the discipline of diagnostic x-ray or they may choose to further their
education in specialized areas such as ultrasonography, vascular
interventional radiography, cardiac catheterization, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging,
mammography or radiation
therapy. Each of these areas generally requires an additional six months
or a one-year educational commitment.
Other areas of expanded
responsibility include education, supervision, and even sales or
research. Ordinarily experience and a college degree are required for
these advanced positions.
Several colleges and
universities throughout the country offer a Bachelor of Science degree in
Radiologic Technology awarding certified technologists college credit for
completion of accredited radiography programs. Missouri State
University in Springfield awards 43 credit hours toward a BSRT for St.
John’s School of Radiologic Technology graduates.
