Janet Jordan, M.D., named Frank Mitchell Physician of the Year at MEMSA annual
conference

Dr. Janet Jordan
was awarded the “Frank
Mitchell Physician of the Year” at the
Missouri
Emergency Medical Services Association’s (MEMSA)
annual conference. Dr. Jordan
is an emergency physician
who has worked in the Emergency Trauma Center at St. John’s for 16 years. She
has served as
EMS
medical director for over 10 years. Dr.
Jordan is the medical director for St. John’s EMS education programs and the
EMS Dispatch Center, which provides service to the ground and flight
programs.
“Dr. Jordan represents the EMS system on a variety of Health System service
lines and ensures that our plans integrate into the “big picture,” says Bob
Patterson EMS director, “She has dedicated office hours during which she
meets with her EMS colleagues in the pursuit of improving our system.”
Dr.
Jordan facilitates cutting edge protocols that are the example for many EMS
systems in the state. She regularly attends EMS Managers meetings and
participates in the development and implementation of policy and procedure.
She
visits St. John’s EMS facilities at least twice each year during the
celebration of “Mercy Day” and “EMS Week.” The visit to the services takes
three complete days of travel and she does so without hesitation each year
looking forward to meeting with all her EMS colleagues at their home
departments.

reflection of this quality of care, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
Dr.
Jordan received her medical degree from the University of
Kansas
Medical
School in 1987 and completed her Residency at
Truman
Medical
Center
– West in 1990. She is active in disaster preparedness efforts and
community service projects such as Katrina deployment, medical mission trip
to Nicaragua,
Springfield Public School’s health screening and docudramas.
