H1N1 Vaccine Availability Oct. 15, 2009 Each week, St. John's Health System receives allotments of H1N1 vaccines from Springfield Greene County Health Department and surrounding health departments to distribute to co-workers and patients. Neither the health departments or St. John's knows when each weekly supply when arrive or how many doses will be in each supply. This week’s supply went to pediatric and OB/GYN offices to best meet the target groups identified by the CDC. As supply becomes available, doses of H1N1 vaccine will eventually be shipped to all clinics for their patients within the target populations identified by the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/acip.htm The Springfield Greene County Health Department and other area health departments may schedule community based flu shot clinics in the upcoming weeks as more supply becomes available. Information about all Flu Shot clinics in the state can be found at www.fighttheflu.mo.com. While you wait to be vaccinated, please remember to use good infection prevention. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand cleaners. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Stay home if you get sick. ■ Read more about H1N1 flu
