CIGNA Healthcare announces contract with St. John's
March 17, 2008
Cigna Healthcare has announced a contract with
St. John's Health System, effective July 15, 2008. Cigna has indicated that
this agreement will cover 18,000 people in southwest Missouri. The contract
will extend St. John's services to local residents of all Cigna's insurance
plans. Residents covered by these plans will become eligible to use any St.
John's hospitals and physicians.
"St. John's is gearing up a program to assist patients with transition of
care to St. John's providers," said Kim Day, St. John's president / CEO. "We
know patients will be pleased with the level of care and expertise provided
by St. John's physicians and staff, as our patient satisfaction scores rank
among the highest in the country for both our hospital and our physicians.
With the opening of our new 300-bed patient tower in Springfield, we will
have the capacity to serve these new patients with a new state-of-the-art
facility."
Cigna will be contacting their members shortly to explain the transition
process to St. John's providers. St. John's will follow up with these
members to make the transition as seamless as possible.
St. John's Health System is the largest health system in southwest Missouri,
employing more than 10,000 co-workers and is one of the Top Three Integrated
Health Systems in the nation.
