Steelville Clinic receives Mercy Team
Award
April 26, 2006
St.
John's Clinic - Steelville received a St. John's Mercy Service Appreciation
Team Award at the 2006 Co-Worker Appreciation and Service Awards Banquet.
Beginning with a walk-through review of the clinic's procedures and
workflow, the Steelville Clinic underwent a series of changes in a
three-month time span that led to dramatic performance improvement.
Changes included staff restructuring and reassignment of tasks; a modified
phone system in which calls were directed to designated individuals based on
order of primary, secondary and tertiary urgency; and accounting duties
broken out into separate categories and assigned to specific staff members.
Throughout the process, staff remained positive and driven to make
improvements as a team.
Because of these efforts, the clinic's Key Performance Indicators (KPR)
rating is now almost always at the maximum score of 25; and patient volume
has increased with staff and providers not feeling overwhelmed.
In addition to internal efforts for improvement, St. John's Clinic -
Steelville staff still make time for the community. The following are a few
examples of their contributions:
- During the flu vaccine crisis, the Clinic was the only Steelville clinic
with sufficient vaccine.
- Regular contributions of money and care packages of clothing, toys, food,
gas cards and more to the Steelville community
- Fundraising efforts for St. John's Clinic Force for Good
St. John's Clinic - Steelville is located at 518 Pine in Steelville, MO. For
