St. John’s is launching a “Know Your Meds” drug safety campaign to help ensure patients are well informed about their prescription, over-the-counter and herbal medications.

More than 200,000 bags are being distributed to St. John’s patients via St. John’s Healthy People magazine, with instructions to review their medications with a pharmacist or physician. The bags are also available in all 70 St. John’s Clinic physician offices in 35 communities
 

Patient safety is a key focus area at St. John’s for 2006. “Know Your Meds” is one of many initiatives underway to improve patient care.
 

Improving medication safety is one of the National Patient Safety goals updated annually by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. (JCAHO).
