St. John's Foundation presents checks
Dec. 18, 2006

St. John’s Foundation for Community Health presented checks Dec. 18, 2006 totaling $72,612 to seven area organizations whose projects improve health and promote health education.

Grant requests from community not-for-profit organizations are evaluated by the Foundation board of directors that includes community members, as well as St. John’s physicians and staff.

“St. John’s Foundation not only supports activities of St. John’s, but other organizations that have an impact on healthcare in the region. We are pleased to be able to provide funding for programs that do such great work,” said Mike Peters, St. John’s Foundation for Community Health executive director.

The grants to be presented Monday are being awarded from St. John’s donor-advised fund at Community Foundation of the Ozarks. The two organizations work together to fund requests of common interest, and two of the agencies receiving funds Monday have been awarded grants from both foundations.

Board chairman Allen Casey presents checks to the following:

*Barbara Brown from Child Advocacy Center - $6,699 to fund SAFE exams.
