St. John’s hosts annual Diabetes Risk Assessments at Battlefield Mall
Dec. 1, 2004

Dramatic new evidence signals the unfolding of a diabetes epidemic in the United States. With obesity on the rise, sharp increases in diabetes rates continue. Finding and treating diabetes early can improve health outcomes for people with diabetes. Yet one third of people with diabetes remain undiagnosed.

St. John’s physicians and diabetes educators believe routine screening and correct diagnosis is essential. Current American Diabetes Association and St. John’s Health System Preventive Health Guidelines recommendation is blood glucose for men and women age 45 and older, once every three years.

St. John’s will offer a free Diabetes Awareness fair to include diabetes risk assessment, blood sugar screenings and a variety of informational booths from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005.
