Each person copes with illness or disability in
different and unique ways. You may find coping with yours an
overwhelming experience.
Patients and their families may find it difficult to cope at
some time. If this occurs, it may be time to
reach outside your family and social circle for assistance.
You may want to talk with a survivor. You
can meet survivors at support groups or ask a member of your team to match
you with a survivor who shares your diagnosis, concerns or interests.
St. John’s has a number of professionals and
support group opportunities. The following are available to help you learn
and respond to the psychological, social, spiritual, emotional and practical
impacts of your illness.
