St. John's Medical Library
Serves St. John's affiliated physicians and employees. The Medical Library's services and resources are directed primarily toward health care professionals to enable them to provide excellent patient care and to support their continuing education needs.

Van K. Smith Community Health Library
Serves patients, family members and members of the community in southwest
Missouri and northwest Arkansas. The Community Health Library's services and resources are directed toward the health consumer and general public to enable them to make informed health decisions and become active participants in their health care and total well being.

up for a library card online
We now have online card registration
available for both St. John's co-workers and the general public. If you
visit the main page of our online catalog,
Coolcat,
just select either 'Public' or 'St. John's Coworker' from the options on the
left side of the page and fill out the required information. Once
submitted, the system will provide you with a temporary library card number so
you can immediately place items on hold.
Once registered, you will need to
visit either the St. John's Medical Library or the Van K. Smith Community Health
Library to complete the registration process within 30 days. If you have

2009
Subscription renewals for St. John's Departments in progress (posted
6/25/2008)
St. John's Medical Library uses a subscription vendor to fulfill its
subscription needs for magazines and professional journals and extends this
service to Health System Departments. It is now time to
approve departmental magazine and journal subscriptions for the coming 2009
year.
Current Department Subscribers:
This week, estimated pricelists for 2009 subscriptions will be sent
to managers who have ordered subscriptions via the Medical Library’s
subscription vendor in the past. Please read the subscription renewal and
authorization instructions carefully and make any needed changes. Return
your authorized subscriptions to LaRee LaMar in the Medical Library by
Thursday, July 24, 2008.
New Department Subscribers:
If any department manager would like to initiate their first subscriptions
or transition existing subscriptions via the Medical Library, you
may contact LaRee LaMar in the Medical Library. LaRee
coordinates subscriptions and can be reached by phone at 820-2070, or by
email at
llamar@mercy.net.

When departments utilize the Medical Library's vendor, 1)All
subscriptions are paid for at one time on one invoice. 2)The Library
staff can assist you with delivery problems and address changes. 3)The
Library staff can assist you in setting up online access to your
subscriptions, if available.

version of Stedman's Medical Dictionary available from Intranet (posted
3/24/2008)
The Medical Library now provides
access to an online version of Stedman's Medical Dictionary. Due to password
restrictions, this resource is only available from the
St. John's Health System
Intranet. Visit the
Intranet Homepage, scroll down
to "Drug Information and Library Links" to find the link to Stedman's Medical
Dictionary Online.
