Michael Gillen named new St. John’s
Hospital-Lebanon president
Michael
J. Gillen succeeded Tim Johnsen as president of St. John’s
Hospital-Lebanon July 16. He will be responsible for overall operations,
working closely with Board members and other health system leaders. He
succeeds former president Tim Johnsen, who was named chief operating
officer at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center, Hot Springs, Ark. last
September.
“We feel Mike is a great fit for the Lebanon community and for St.
John's,” says Jon Swope, president, St. John's Hospitals division. “His
qualifications and experience leading hospital operations within a health
system will allow him to provide strong leadership and strategic
direction.”
Gillen has a master of health care administration degree from University
of Minnesota and a bachelor of science degree in health services
administration from University of South Dakota. He most recently served as
chief executive officer at Sterling Regional MedCenter, part of Banner
Health, a private, not-for-profit health system headquartered in Phoenix.
“I was impressed with the passion, energy, and commitment I felt from the
senior leaders of St. John's Health System and the talented senior
leadership team and staff of St. John's Lebanon Hospital,” Gillen says. “I
was also moved by the amount of support I observed for the hospital and
St. John's Health System from the board of trustees and the foundation.”
Gillen and his wife Marie have four sons: Isaac, 12; Caius, 10; Tegan 6;
and Garret, 2.
Lynda Luria, who served as interim president, will return to her duties as
vice president of operations when Gillen starts July 16.
