St. John’s provides insight, tools needed to encourage healthy lifestyles
By Jay Eckersley
St. John's president and CEO

Each and every day, St. John’s is working to improve your health.

Whether it’s by introducing the latest treatments and therapies to battle disease, partnering with other organizations to improve health or sharing a prayer with a patient, St. John’s continues to address the health care needs of our region.

From the two-room house on Springfield’s Main Street in 1891 to today’s St. John’s – the region’s most comprehensive integrated health care network – we’ve grown. We’ve changed. The knowledge and passion of our physicians, nurses and other health care professionals drive that change. The mission set forth by our foundress, Catherine McAuley, to improve health care with a personalized approach has been a guidepost for how we deliver care, even in today’s fast-paced, high-tech world.

The delivery of health care is complicated, however, by a challenge to meet a variety of needs. Employers desire to keep costs low while ensuring a healthy, productive work force. Health consumers desire the most state-of-the-art technology and therapies. Health care providers strive to recruit the top talent in a competitive job market.

There is no single answer to solve the health care dilemmas of our time, so we rely on our expertise, compassion and innovation to reinvent health care and the way it is delivered.

We’ve learned that high-quality, focused care leads to healthier people and fewer trips to the doctor’s office. We’ve learned that efficient, patient-centered facilities improve both the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care delivery. We’ve learned that a physician-led and professionally managed multi-specialty clinic within a large integrated health system like St. John’s attracts the highest-caliber physicians in the country.

St. John’s continues to raise the bar on quality and patient service as shown by our selection as a Top 20 Health System and a Top 10 Clinic. St. John’s Hospital has also received national recognition for patient satisfaction and quality.

We’re confident that our history, strong mission and unique approach position us to proactively meet the health care needs of the communities we serve.

Together, we have an answer.
