My View: Editorial from St. John's CEO Jay Eckersley

St. John’s: a powerful choice in health care

Welcome to the April-June 2003 edition of St. John’s Healthy People magazine. While Healthy People takes on a revised appearance, the focus will remain the same – educating our public on health issues.

The new design coincides with our new communication campaign which spotlights the skill, dedication and compassion of our physician partners and valued co-workers at St. John’s. These attributes make St. John’s a powerful choice in meeting your health care needs. As a part of this campaign, we hope you enjoy seeing and hearing from the people who help you every day with your health needs. More than 200 St. John’s physicians and co-workers participated in the creation of this campaign, and we enjoyed putting it together for you.

This issue of Healthy People magazine provides important information about diabetes and how it is rapidly emerging as an American epidemic. We also tell the story of Jesse and Bonita Cunningham, a couple in their 90s who is participating in a new St. John’s Seniors project called the Book of Marriages. Also included is a Q&A with pediatrician John Hopkins, M.D., on children and allergies and an article and recipe for eating light – both timely pieces as spring arrives.

Have a wonderful spring and stay healthy!
